I am trying to install GTA San Andreas multiplayer and currently I'm on the step where I have to downgrade GTA San Andreas to version 1.0 because SA-MP doesn't support later versions. I've downloaded the tool to make this happen but I can't seem to locate my gta-sa.exe file. Programs for GTA San Andreas - Original gta_sa.exe v. 1.01 with auto-installer free download. People have a tendency to blame the game/developers before checking their own crappy setup that's likely causing the issue. OMG I HAVE TWO EXES This is on purpose for compatibility reasons - they are both the exact same.

The Steam release of San Andreas changed the EXE name - so Steam looks for gta-sa.exe when it attempts to launch San Andreas. Mods on the other hand look for gta_sa.exe as this was the original retail EXE name. Legal This downgrader relies on binary differences so no game files are being distributed. But I have an question. Why this downgrader is almost twice heavier than your 11/7>3.0 or 12.9>3.0 downgraders? I thought that 1.0, 1.01, 2.0 and 3.0 versions have differences only in main.exe since downgrader doesn't touches other files besides main.exe. Could you please explain a bit?

And one more question.The.exe downgrader I mentioned above generates.exe that doesn't requires disk in tray to play. I know, that makes sense, since it's designed for Steam version. But how it was achieved, if 1.0 and 1.01 were DVD only?

If its an older game you are playing and you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8 it may not work, if you right click the .exe file and choose Properties and then Compatibility you can change this to run in Windows 98/ Windows 2000 etc. You can find more information on the Beginners Help page here
